Ecosal Atlantis project: strategies for local development through tangible and intangible heritage

The transnational projects Sal do Atlântico [2005-2007] and Ecosal Atlantis [2010-2012] have an important role in the changing of attitude and as an impulse for the local development of Aveiro based on saltworking activity and in its cultural heritage. Coordinated by City Museum | Municipality of Aveiro, those projects brought the theme back to the highlight and allowed the discussion about the problems and the potential of saltworks. More than the chance to improve de museum cultural offer, especially of the Ecomuseu Marinha da Troncalhada, those projects support the social function of the museum through the establishing of partnerships with other entities and involving the community in the actions.
