Among the cultural equipments of the Municipality of Almada, Casa da Cerca’s mission is the dissemination and promotion of contemporary art, focusing on drawing. In addition to the regular exhibitions and associated events, the Educational Service, the Center for Documentation and Research are key sectors for the approach to different audiences. The Floor of the Arts – Botanical Gardens (o Chão das Artes), opened in 2001, amplifying the scientific research of materials that serve artistic purposes. The Cultural Center is also responsible for the organization the Municipality’s Architecture Prize and the production, management and dissemination of public art in the municipality of Almada.

Ana Isabel Ribeiro (Lisbon, 1959). Degree in History from the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon University, Master in Contemporary Art History Faculty of Social Sciencesand Humanities. Develops research work in the areas of Arts, Public Art and Architecture. Since 2002, the director of the Casa da Cerca – Contemporary Art Centre (City Hall of Almada).
